Oh man. Cathy is the worst comic strip ever. It's like somebody took all the easy cliches about women and just decided to write fifteen thousand easy, uninspired jokes about them. Screw Cathy.

It weirds me out that her hair looks blonde in the dailies but brown in the Sundays.

And after 30 years, she still draws fingers like potato chips. It's like Arnold Shwarzennegar still speaking with a thick Austrian accent. Or me still misspelling 'Schwartzenneger.'

I don't have any animosity toward Cathy--and having met the real Cathy earlier this year, it's even harder to work up any ill-will toward the strip.

I just chalk it up to "I'm probably not the target audience for this" and leave it at that. It's how I came to terms with the Teletubbies, boy bands and the healthy choice menu at Taco Bell.

It's just that the main character seems like such an annoying, worthless person. Like if she really existed, she'd be the kinda chick that Sean Connery would have no problem laying his pimp hand down on.
